Support Groups

Jewish Family Service of North Jersey offers a number of counseling, support and discussion groups on a wide variety of topics of interest to individuals and families.

Our group approach opens the door to the many benefits of a carefully assembled and professionally led group. Members can become mutually supportive in the safe and trusting environment of the group and learn new ideas and skills from each other and from the facilitator. Some of our group offerings include:

•	Adult Children of Aging Parents: Sandwich Generation — Discuss caregiving concerns with others who share your experiences and find solutions to many problems that frequently arise as you care for your aging parent.
•	Bereavement Group for Widows and Widowers — Opportunities to share and learn how to deal with loss and loneliness as well as practical adjustment issues while gaining support from the other group members.
•	Caregiver Support Group — Share caregiving concerns while gaining coping skills and learning to take time out for yourself.
•	Social Skills Group — Provides children with an opportunity to improve social skills in a nurturing and therapeutic environment.
•	Under One Roof: Interfaith Connection — Opportunities to share the challenges and issues that parents and grandparents experience within an interfaith family.
•	Second Generation: Children of Holocaust Survivors — Share feelings, experiences and concerns unique to those who have grown up in a family of Holocaust survivors.
•	Café Europa — provides monthly social programs for Holocaust survivors.

Groups are provided on a fee-for-service basis and JFSNJ offers a sliding-fee scale for those requiring financial assistance. JFSNJ participates in several health insurance programs.
