About Us
Mission
Jewish Family Service of North Jersey’s mission is to provide quality and caring professional services that strengthen family life and enhance the welfare of the North Jersey community, in accordance with Jewish traditions and values.
History
Established in 1944 and originally housed in downtown Paterson, New Jersey, Jewish Family Service of North Jersey (JFSNJ) is a multifunction, non-profit, non-sectarian family and social service agency that has served the New Jersey residents of Passaic and Northwest Bergen
Counties for over 60 years. In keeping with its mission, JFSNJ:

Makes available to children, adults, couples, families and the elderly, counseling, outreach, care management and any other service that promotes healthy personality development, and productive social functioning. |

Conducts group educational activities, consultation, prevention programs and community forums in the interest of providing knowledge, information and increased understanding of individual and family relationships |

Participates in community planning for the establishment and improvement of those social conditions that strengthen family life and in advocating for services that families require for healthy social functioning. |
JFSNJ's primary service is to provide out-patient mental health counseling facilitated by Licensed Clinical Social Workers. All services are offered and available on a sliding fee scale. In addition,
the Agency offers eldercare services, meals on wheels, financial assistance and community outreach. The Agency’s programs and services are structured to provide a response to families
at any stage of the lifecycle. Most notably, JFSNJ collaborates with other agencies and organizations to help fulfill its goals.
The Agency works cooperatively with a broad spectrum of community organizations and healthcare providers such as home health agencies, physicians, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, churches, synagogues, and schools. These relationships are vital to reaching people who require services.
